Defender/Discovery Breakers

Since my defender gearbox (LT77) and transfer box (LT230T) have to come out for some rebuilds I was thinking about sticking a 1.2 disco transfer box in, I don't do any heavy towing or have massive 33" inch tyres (235/85 R16 on and no real plans to go bigger) and since the low range is the same seems like a good upgrade. Does anyone know of any breakers in the north east that i could go have a look at to see if i can find one I like before I resort to EvilBay.
Also anyone able to recommend a gearbox rebuilder, i'd prefer to get it done local (Newcastle), have seen a few online like Syncrogearboxes and Ashcroft?
