Defender components

Thinking of changing my 2003 defender 90 TD5 for a more recent defender.
Looking at 2008/2009 defenders with the 2.4 engine.
Read a few reviews from owners and some comments that these vehicles are suffering more faults than the previous model. Some are suggesting that this is due to some components being sourced from the new owners home market in Asia.
Does anyone know if there has been any switch in component origin by Tata on the defender models?

I would have thought that was unlikely, 'cos I think its a Ford engine.

I agree though its affecting everything you buy and it seems near impossible to buy anything any good
