Defender axles identification

Hi All I know this must sound like a daft question but here goes ,how can I tell the difference between a discovery axle and a defender axle as I have been given a pair of axles and I would to tell which vehicle they came from .Thanks for any answers

Front or back?

Front. Early Discovery had twin circuit brakes (only helps if you have brake calipers on the axle). Top swivel pin on the Defender is about twice the diameter, you will have to remove them to be certain.

Rear. Not so easy. Early Defender had drum rear brakes. Also A-frame mount on the Discovery axle is 'beefier' than the Defender one......IIRC

If you can find an axle number on them then I can tell you for certain.
