Hi
Defender1.jpg

Just joined the forum. I have recently purchased this Defender 90. It's a 200 tdi and has had a lot of modifications. The pic makes it look better than it is. The paint work is really letting it down and I am considering getting it resprayed. Somebody suggested getting it wrapped. Has anyone on here had a land rover Defender wrapped and does it last? My guess is a paint job is better.
The chassis looks ok to me but there has been some welding on one side. The MOT says some more welding repairs may be required before the next MOT which I will get done. Is it worth treating the chassis once its fixes. Can it be sealed at home or do I need to get a professional to seal it. The landy has a disco transfer box. There is a slight knocking at low speed but it drives ok. Might put some tinted panoramic windows in the back.

Welcome:)

That looks great, to be honest paintwork should be the least of your worries.
Get out there and get it dirty:)
Sort the welding, and loads of stuff available to try and keep tinworm at bay all doable at home.

Lots will say security should be high on your list too

Enjoy it:)

As he says ^^^^^

If they said it's needed for next MOT it's Doo-able. Get it done properly first as last. There's few things id change but quite like it's character, nice project ;)

Thanks youre right. Paintwork is the least of my concerns. With regards security is there any suggestions?

I actually favour a good pedal guard type.
Lots have trackers and alarms, something very visible is a good deterrent.

But as ^^^^ look around on here as loads of info. But whatever you do don’t advertise it.
In our case muddy and battered is a good camouflage :)

I am probably not in a position to advise as we still leave our doors unlocked and even open where we live:)

The horse knows his place behind that little 12v wire (by heck it gives a buzz on the end of the muzzle for 12v)

How did you know we got an orse?

Hi and welcome!

Smart looking Landy! No doubt a few niggles to sort (they all have them!) and some chassis treatment and it’ll be a decent Landy! Security should be the number one priority though.
