What size are the tyres and rims you've got fitted and what are you comparing it to? An older defender might have sagging springs which would make it look lower as would smaller tyres
 
Hi, std wheels and 265 tyres, but doesn't seem much lower than with 2"lift springs, someone said it could be that the Terrafirma shocks are the longer ones to suit the 2" extended springs, others say that wouldn't make any difference.?
 
Shock absorbers will not make any difference to the ride height of your defender and depending upon how old your existing springs are there may well be little difference in height. 265's will make it higher than say 205's I raised mine 2 inches just be swapping the tyres

Hi thanks very much, they are brand new std springs so will just wait a bit and see if the settle a bit.

Don't let the door hit you on the arse on your way out.

Yellow springs would have originally been ****part springs and would have sagged to less ride height than standard springs within a few hours of being fitted. This is why standard springs haven't lowered your vehicle.
Perhaps a chavvy corsa would suit you better.
 
Not sure why your all getting aggressive? The guy said he wanted to return his car to standard.

Maybe he wants to fit it in a garage or doesn't like the idea of 'aftermarket modifications' etc

Anyway if you have fitted standard springs then you will be at the right height for a fender.

Don't measure ground to bodywork but measure fixed points like spring seat to chassis rail etc.

See if they settle out a bit over the next few days.

New springs do raise the vehicle. I changed my original standard springs for new standard ones. Raised it almost 2", the old ones were pretty tired.
 
Just looked up "ricer" myself, not sure how that applies to this guy, he appears to want to unrice his Landy, nothing wrong with that.
Springs always throw up all sorts of ride height conundrums. Different lengths; different load/pre-load ratings; different manufacturers - these are all factors that need to be considered when setting up your Landy.

Why do some people on this site have to always take the ****? The whole point of this site is to share info on landies and the many individual set ups that exist. Surely that is what makes them so much fun. This site would not exist if they were all the same .
Not everyone on this site lives breaths and f***s there landy so they need a bit of constructive help not the single minded bull****e that some people write.
If you know it all and you are always right make you own website.

Thank you for your constructive help and sharing your info on landys to the OP. A truly ironic post.

At least I shared info on his yellow springs and gave him constructive help with his spelling.
 
I looked on the OP's profile and it says he is 71.
He's clearly not up for a bit of this forum's humour.
I may be wrong, but l don't think he will appear on here again lol.
There are other Land Rover forums with more gentle chat that might suit him better.
Shame for him, as this is the best one.
