Hi all just having a look round my defender 90 today and noticed rust is forming just under the dash where there is some plastic trim near the door stop catch. It's happening both sides driver seems the worst, I haven't investigated to much but am hoping I can clean it up and get away with treating it with rust treatment, is this common on defenders and it there anyway to stop it happening?. Thanks in advance.

Piccies man,we need piccies.

Cheers
Hi it's quite hidden, I'm going to try and take the trim of this weekend and have a look, I'll add pics when I get time to look. I've just bought a rust product called vactan (meant to be good) I think it could be a handy product to have owning a Land Rover lol.

Have a look under the bonnet on the drivers side behind the pedal box's at the top of the footwell. On the passenger side the heater box can hide problems.

Is this it:p

Hi all sorry for the late replies, I've been so busy with work I haven't had time to delve any further yet. But looking on the photos above that's the sort of area but on a quick look mine doesn't look so bad,it seems to be on a double skinned area where panels meet, but I will have a much better look over the xmas holiday, also the weathers been awful the Land Rover issues can wait until it's a bit nicer. I'm starting to realise owning a Land Rover is a bit of a labour of love, I've worked on cars in the past so I think it's time to get the spanners out again. I'll add a photo when I've had a look thanks to everyone.
