Got my 300tdi stripped back ready for paint, took off doors etc. I have the early lift up handle types with sliding windows. Although they are in ready good shape I have been searching for a decent set of push button doors. I know decent is hard to get but any ideas where. I could source. I would flog my existing doors to part fund. Don’t want to go to the bother and paint when I have the chance to change now….

It’s going to be the usual suspects, namely eBay or FB marketplace if you don’t mind used ones, or the likes of SP Panels if you want new…

If you go for the former option, be aware of doing your homework beforehand to make sure you don’t buy stolen parts. There’s a rampant market in stolen defender parts, in particular later doors and panels which in turn drives more thefts. Make sure you’re happy with the provenance of any parts you’re buying,

If you’re on FB, I have seen more than one post in recent weeks from people wanting series style doors in exchange for newer doors so you may get away with a swap.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for that. The guy plans to paint my 90 in the next 2 weeks so pressure is on to make a decision.

can I ask where did u see the request for exchange (series for new type). Was it market place? I don’t do Facebook but I could get my son to check up.

love to go to Newbury but I am from ni with 5 kids

I am going to buck the trend and say keep the series style with sliding windows. They give you a lot more room in the cabin and are a lot easier to rustproof, repair, and cheaper to replace when required.

Why do you want one piece doors, what benefit do you think they will give you?

It’s just the look tbh. I have given this some thought since I have posted and have to say I agree with you. I am just gonna keep the series doors.
Been chatting to a defender specialist yesterday from my region and he said there is has been a recent increase in demand for guys changing push button doors back to series for some reason. Since he said that I have noticed quite a few around here.

One of the reasons is the significantly more elbow/knee room. But there is also a bit of trend currently for the “retro” look. As opposed to a few years ago where it was all metallic paint and alloy wheels to try and make them look like a suv.
