Hi there,
I was wondering if doors from a 1997 defender 90 would fit a 1987 defender 90?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

84/85 was change over to wind ups from sliders
Maybe have to change the catches

1984 push button doors and winding windows started. Windows were similar to the sliding rear windows with lifting handles before ( handle like rear door)

I have a 1984 90 with wind up windows but the front door handles are the lift up type the same as the back door. Just FYI!!

yes but you may need to change the catcher plates on the door frame..cheap as chips. And fish. maybe a saveloy.

Storm, why would they need changing are they not the same?

I only ask as I have later doors on mine with the original 88 door plates and you have to slam the doors to shut them properly (that engage with the door seals).

There's 2 types of lock, push button and latch. The doors are the same..the locks and catcher plates on the frame are the only difference. You can swap the lock mechanisms thogh so its not a prob.

In your case you just need to slacken the catcher plate on the frame and move it about until it is seated properly with the lock...sounds like its a little too far back..its only 2 screws on the catch plate iirc.

Roger that, but when I loosen the plates off the door does not fully engage with the seal. I had thought about replacing the catcher plates with spankers as the rubber pieces are badly worn on each one.
