This is my first post and I hope someone can help me.
My 2003 defender sometimes has trouble starting, sometimes runs fine although falters at higher revs and sometimes stops - not when I want it too. After this it won't start, then hours later it does start and performs the same tricks as before.
I am led to believe that the crankshaft sensor unit may be at fault.
I have bought a new one, fitted it and now it won't start. put the old one back in and it started.
Going slightly mad here.
Does the new sensor have to be recognised by the CPU or should it work anyway?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
