Can anyone help as I need to make a little adjustment on the handbrake, the haynes is no use nor ornamant! I have too much travel in it for the MOT man, any sugestions please.

I thought I would have to get in and clean the brake shoe area, But the hand brake is working so I will have a look for the adjuster.

Well, if it's working OK as it is, and you just need to get it down to three clicks, do it on the cable.

But if it's as crap as mine was, strip it all down, re grease the adjuster and expander plungers and rollers, the external mechanism that the cable hooks onto, and oil the cable. All best done with the middle seat panel out.

Whilst you've got it all apart you might like to try this little mod I've done. Get a 3" piece of 12mm pipe (copper is what I had handy) and slip it over the cable between the lever and the seat box. Cut a large diameter small hole washer so you can slip it over the cable and fit that between the tube and the rubber bush in the seat box.

Now your handbrake will be up at 45 degrees, so you don't have to scrabble around on the floor to find it.
