Hello,
I'm going to fit a fuel shut off tap in a fuel line (from tank to filter) anyone know what size tap (id of pipe) I will need ? any assistance welcomed

The engine takes an awful long time to die even with the fuel line switched off as the fip holds quite a bit of fuel.

There is a difference between cutting the line, and blocking the line though -

cut it, and the engine will run until it draws air
block it, and it will run until the vacuum builds too high

In my experience, the latter will result in no power fairly quickly.

Thank you, 6mm id hose tap I'm looking for
Why 6mm?
Return line is 6mm flow is 8.
The tap bore needs to be the same bore as the pipe really or you may suffer fuel starvation at high rpm.
If you are looking at the electrical shut off taps I found non that had an 8mm bore when I was going to do this. If considering a manual shut off, you can use any full bore lever valve from a plumbers place with 10mm compression fittings.
I havent found a way yet of mounting this set up so it's accessable but hidden from tea leaves.

Excellent thanks but I was thinking of going a manual tap route so I can isolate if I feel the need

Simples then. Quality branded lever ball valve with 10mm compression fittings. Supposed to use inserts but I haven't and 14yrs later, no leaks.

Used to run one on old motor no worries. Can use push fit fuel fittings
For easy fitting

Also used a brake line lock(bit pricey)
They would have to pick the whole motor up to steal it.
