Defender 300 TDi Project!

yeah its not too bad, can be a bit frustrating at times.

Improbably going to spray the roof for that very reason lol

Got all sorts of stuff starting to collect



New hinge pin kit for the air vent flaps on the front
Rivnut gun
Fibreglass to repair a couple of holes on the passenger door frame
New door hinge kit, no idea why ones a different colour, will be painted anyway
Paint touch up, to find a colour close to the vinyl to paint bits like the hinges. This one is pretty close - BMW Sparkling Graphite
Spat clips for the flexible wheel arches

looking good, keep going.. buy a mig and ditch the fibre glass

More bits off for prep and wrap

Tonights little task was to remove the air cleaner and hoses, and waterproof it all, as you will see its not exactly waterproof from the factory

Heres all the bits



oh and this, I guess its not very waterproof anymore



First up was to waterproof the join between the plastic housing that sits on the rear of the wing, Sikaflex was used through out all this.



Then attached that piece on

Then sealed the plastic piece that push fits into the back of that



The two bits attached on



Sealed up the rubbish water drain valve here



And here



Applied a smear to the crimp join around the end of the can, mine looked fairly tight but just a precaution

Then sealed the snorkel to the wing





Should be fairly water tight :thumbs:

If anyone knows the part number for that split bit of hose that would be amazing or show me where to get one

It was 3028 that was split on mine. From the parts book you will know what it is you are looking for. Great job looking forward to reading more. Keep up the good work....

Got the rest of these bits wrapped, but first up was to etch primer all my new hinges and bulkhead to windscreen frame brackets

Ordered some Rustoleum enamel type anti rust black paint for these.



First up to wrap this



Then this, youl notice a new defender badge on there



Both bits



Checker plate and vent cover back on



So everything on that side of the car is ready to go back on the car tomorrow

Your making it look to easy!!

Today was a busy day.

Sprayed the hinges etc with the rustoleum paint, put them in the oven to bake



Will give them another coat



Then got the wing etc back on





Finally wrapped the bonnet, which took AGES. Will be ready to go back on tomorrow

Continued today, painted and baked the bonnet hinges

Back on the car

Been reading this today mate and got to saw the landys looking tidy! Any idea where the a bar came from?

Got it from a guy down south off ebay, 20 quid!

Other wing removed and wrapped.



One more panel to go and that's the whole front end done

Got everything back on this morning, pics of the whole front end now its done









Also replaced the long metal aerial



with one of these shorter rubber bee sting types

Other jobs I did today, fit the axle breathers





Heres the old ones



Ran all the pipework into the engine bay and into a 5 way manifold, more pics of that tomorrow

My fibreglass repair of the door frame, bit of a bodge but should keep this door going for a while longer

Then moved onto fitting the replacement door that iv had wrapped for a while
