Have you had any joy figuring out what’s going on yet SL?
No “joy” as yet. Was hoping to tear it down to find the one part that needed replacing to fix the issue. As life is always more complicated than planned, I found loads of problems on this low mileage rebuild, as detailed over in the other post. I suspect the root of the “ticking noise” were the hills and valleys on the #1 cam and roller. Glad that incited me to tear into the block to find the sad state of affairs with the rest of the camshaft and its bearings.

Now I need to find out what the seller of this engine is willing to do to make it right. I have put my $2,500 order for parts on hold as I have zero confidence in the rest of the block. If I had my way, I would start fresh with a new long block from Turner Engineering fitted with a gas flowed head. But as my money tree is currently in winter hibernation, I need to see what help I can get after already spending $7,500 on this engine 16 months ago that gave me an enjoyable 5,700 miles (that’s $1.32 per mile for those keeping score at home).
