Hi i have a 200tdi defender that is smoking white with a hint of blue with a small misfire
Only dose this on cold start
Fitted new injectors but still the same ...
No water loss
Very small oil loss
Have a look at the video and see what you think ...
Thanks

I would start from the beginning and check all the settings first.
Inj pump timing.
Cam belt tension.
Valve clearances as the lash caps break all the time, whilst rocker cover off shine a torch through the valve springs and see how many stem seals have come adrift.

Does it misfire when warmed up?

200 tdi do push out a puff of black smoke on start up, that is normal. The miss firing doesn't sound right though. Think I would have looked at the glow plugs first before changing injectors. I would also check all the other settings etc.Valves, timings etc. Mine has always started on the button, hardly turns over at all. I recently changed the valve stem seals. From the top they looked fine. When stopped at traffic lights as I pulled away it would push out a puff of blueish smoke for a few seconds. Not when running along the road though. Oil consumption was about a pint between servicing.

1 pint of oil sounds about right for me to ...
If oil was getting in piston whould it mis fire if i rev it abit it will miss and the smoke comes ...let go and the mis goes but smoke almost stops but is blue ..
Drive down the road then use engine breaking and it poors out again ..then 100yards later its fine ..maby some smoke at lights
Stop at work 12 miles and let it tick over for some time but all if fine ..

Not the same engine but I had an NA that did that and new glow plugs sorted it, although looking at the video not as bad as you.

That first puff of black smoke is normal.

The rest not.

Let us know about timing etc, and do you tappets etc aswell give it a proper service.

Maybe get the compression checked aswell

Locked the flywheel to find this ...
Ternd it about 5 times but couldnt get it to line up ????
And pin will not go fully in to pump
Has my belt slipped ??

Ignore the pulley, if the crank pin is in the flywheel the only thing that matters is will the fip pin fit through the pulley?

With the crank locked how much can you turn the large nut on the fip pulley? dont give it any grunt as you may damage the locking pin in the flywheel.

Look at the drain hole at the bottom of the belt housing is there any black dust and is it blocked?

Of course the other thing 200 engines do if people havent tightened the crank bolt fully is allow the main belt pulley AND the cambelt pulley to chatter away on the crank keys giving you variable valve timing, this may explain the marks not lining up.
