Hello,
I have an early 84 Landy 110 and have finally decided to move forward with a defender 200tdi conversion. Being a model transition year it has the coil overs, however was fitted with the 2.25 10J diesel engine attached to an LT77 gear box.

I imagine lots have completed a similar conversion and have a few questions to the community. I have assumed that I can use the existing wiring loop as consider the key items are starter, heater plugs and pump solenoid – is this a misconception?

Currently I do not have the power steering steering box, so I am not sure how to manage the pump – I thought I could just remove it but is this needed for alternator belt arrangement? Is it possible to bypass?

Reading around I understand the 200tdi will mirror up to the bell housing without any modifications – are there any surprises that anyone has had when doing similar conversions?

The defender 200tdi engine I have sourced comes with the radiator pack and pipe work and has less than 100K miles. I target to replace all belts, water pump, filters and clutch before installation – are there any additional recommendations or weaknesses to consider?

Thank you for comments.

James

Good project.
200 defender will fit gearbox & all chassis mounts.
Wiring loom should just plug in
Make your own loom for the glow plugs.
See if you can get the steering box. This is easy to change.
Power steering pump runs on its own belt so if you don't want want to run it your ok.
While you have the bell housing out change clutch fork to a strengthened one.
Get ready for the power .....
