Hi, just had pickup stolen and found in Watlington burnt out. Was parked 30 metres away but never heard a thing. Surely SOMEONE could investigate as these thefts going on ages and still continue. WHO are the parts sellers and what do they know??? Why don't we club together and hire private detective? Id like another Defender but will have to get security sorted with priority of STOPPING theft. There are lots of affordable security options for home but cars lag behind. Even a simple baby monitor could alert quickly.

Why don't folk just stop buying front bulkheads for £200 off ebay, front wing for £100, front bumper for x..... and so on and so on.

Hi @Glynn Spratt

Did you have any security on it that the thieves overcame? Did your vehicle have any form of security marking / etching on it?
Was if found locally?, did you use anything like FB landywatch / stolen 4x4 to help put the word out that it was stolen?

As it was stolen and found fairly close burnt out, Can you tell if it was intact , were major parts stolen before it was set alight?. If not, then I would expect it was local youths who wanted to play on the woodland / restricted byways between the two places.

So I can inform the local Landy group with some details , when was it stolen?

There is a lot of info online regarding Landy security and what can be added to help stop / delay or put the culprits off yours and make them look for an easier target.

Cheers

Yes, being found close by and burnt out doesn't sound like a parts stripping crime, just joyriders. Personally I dont think landy's are any more likely to get nicked as any other car. It just seems like it when you own one and hear of a few going missing. If you own something valuable, it's up to you to do your best to secure it or take it on the chin when it gets lifted.

I want to know how these thieves steal the Land Rovers without making any noise.
One guy on here had five dogs in the house and the Defender went from his drive without any of them barking.

I suspect they just do it all as if they own it.. lets face it getting in is easy and most dogs wouldn't bark at the sound of their owners car engine.

this is my killer cat - we have three and they protect my Landy. So get rid of the dogs and buy a cat! Main coon
