Defender 110 - new on this forum - seeking advice

Dear all,

I am a Land Rover enthusiast from Amsterdam. Currently not owning a LR, but over the past years I have driven a Freelander 1 and a Defender 110. A Defender even starred as our wedding car only 3 weeks ago, looking great with a fresh coat of paint! Unfortunately that particular Defender (my father-in-law's) has now been in quite an accident near Glasgow, Scotland a couple of days ago and it seems that we will not be bringing it back to Europe.

We are looking for an enthusiasts who would like to make a project out of it. As we are no locals, does anybody has a suggestion on how to go about this and where to offer the car?

Hello and welcome,
If the chassis isn't bent looks easy to repair enough to get it where you want it.
Second hand complete wing?

My father-in-law went back to the shop yesterday to find out what was left after their encounter. Although the picture doesn’t look too bad, it appears that the chassis is bent, the steering column is twisted and there is a lot of bodywork damage. Several garage guys say it economically not feasible to rebuild the car. On the bright side, it appears that the car has saved their lives, when they were hit by a truck.

Anyway, what’s left are some good parts. Any thoughts on how to reach Defender drivers around Glasgow? Thanks again.

Im just north of Glasgow bud where is the car & what exactly do you want to do with it, I have a recovery trailer
to collect it if your paying for storage.

Again many thanks for your kind replies! In particular @kevstar , thanks for reaching out! Also agree very much with @RangeRoller dt . Very lucky that they are ok. The business end of a truck can’t be a great sight.

It is an East-Africa spec TD5 (so RHD), sold in 2001 by my father-in-law to a EU diplomat. She used it in Tanzania and later in Belgium. They stayed in touch and a couple of years ago he bought the car back from her. Last year, the car has been repainted in the original color, new doors, new interior and upholstery and the chassis was sandblasted and coated with conservation paint. Makes it even more of a shame that it was such a big bang.

My F-I-L is boating in Scotland and used the car around the port for trips etc. The car has a Belgian registration.

I guess it is a car for parts now, against any reasonable offer. Such a shame, but I am not handy enough, nor have the space in Amsterdam to store and restore her.

I will ask my F-I-L To make a list of what parts seem to be in order and post that here, if anyone is interested. If that is OK with forum rules, of course.
