Hey this is my first post and i need need advice about my 200Tdi 110.

One problem is the brakes on it. After the landy stops to a halt the brake pedal can still be pushed down further and feels spongy and gives out a “whooshing” sound, sounding like air escaping. We took it to the garage and they bled the brakes but that didn’t make much difference, any idea what the problem is?
Another problem is the suspension, it seems very stiff for a land rover and you can feel every little stone in the road. Sometimes the landy starts to rattle as well. Does this mean the shockers and springs need replacing or is the problem something else?

Cheers

The suspension sounds like that on my 90, i got new radius arm bushes in september and since then ive felt my suspension has been pretty hard, and the landy just seems to lollop about a bit so i think its time for new springs and shocks too.

The landy was made in 86 but the 200tdi was put in at a later date as its a Ex MoD landrover. Its hard to tell if the suspension has been changed but before we got it is was used on the beach by some surfers so they may have changed it. Also i live in yorkshire.

The wooshing noise is the power assisted brakes (will ocure just as you let the pedel go.)

The slightly spongy brakes sould also mean the master cylinder in bypassing slightly and may be about to start to fail on one or both circuits.

As for the 'hard' suspension this couldbe that the previous owner has had stiffer springs fitted to it.

if it is exmod it will have very heavy duty suspension, the MoD dont care about ride comfort too much

Thanks for the help.

Is there a way to stop the wooshing sounds then, like replacing the brakes as its a pretty loud sound?

I assume this means the master cylinder will need replacing aswell then?

I have another question regarding wheels. I picked up a set of steel rimmed wheels a while back for cheap off ebay, to our knowledge they came off a swb ex MoD 2a or a 3. Will these be ok on a 110 or shall i sell them on?
