I hope its of use to someone , here is a diagram of the wipers, fuses, switches etc in my TD5 defender. I had an issue of no high speed wipers and changed the steering column switch, the relay too. This is of use to use a m/meter to see if there is power to the motor from the switch etc to find damaged wired or bad fuses etc.
It show there is a powered resistor within the wiper motor itself which may be the culprit if you have slow and intermittent but no fast speed wipers like me.
A new Lucas motor is around £60.

Fixed my wiper issue now with a new wiper motor at last. I had already renewed the relay and the steering column switch as well. I now have intermittent, slow and fast speed wipers again - lovely jubbly. I also put in a new drive cog in it so i assume the problem was the wiper motor internal switch or resistor had failed.
Just for into i used a Britpart motor and cog. The diagram in the pack was useless and so faded it was no good at all. When it fitted the motor , it was set up for left hand drive cars . This was a Brit part, for a Brit RHD car ordered in the UK by a UK resident yet i got a foreign part!!!!!!! Why is this Britpart? Please improve the much copied photocopy instructions as they are useless and so feint. Be wary LR owners.
