I've acquired a pair of doors from an 05 deepender, to fit to my 200 TDi. They've got leccy winderrs and I'm confident that I can wire up some suitable switches and relays to get them working.
My question is about how the motor is wired - there doesn't seem to be a wiring diagram covering this on my RAVE CD.
There's only 2 thickish wires coming from the motors - one Red and one Blue.
Is the motor earthed to the door frame and the red and blue wires need 12V for up / down respectively (or vice-versa)?
Or, is the motor isolated and the red & blue wires need 12V and Earth alternately, for up and down (ie reversing the polarity)?

Has anyone got a relevant wiring diagram?

Thanks in anticipation of your help.:)

I don't like electric windows, keeps forgeting to put um up, got to start up again. Whats that air con all about, must look a **** with me ear muffs on.

Get your meter out, and check the RESISTANCE in unit ohms scale between red and blue, and then reverse the leads and measure blue and red.

If the resistance is the same both ways, and if it lies in the range something like 1 to maybe 4 ohms, (or anything like that) you could try connecting 12 volts across the blue and red and see what happens.

I suspect the window will come down, or try to go up.
Now reverse the battery leads and the opposite might happen.

If so, wire her up with a Maplins change-over switch that reverts to neutral (OFF) and can be toggled either up or down.

If you need a hand with the wiring layout let me know.

put a battery over them and find out, but ah think the switches do the switching fer the current.. if you can wait a few days i'll find oot

thanks fer the replies so far.
I have no problem wiring them up, once I know which wire is which.
I'm a bit worried about trial and error with a battery, in case there's any polarity concious components inside (e.g. as part of and anti-trap circuit etc)
Therefore I'd really like to hear from someone who's got a wiring diagram or who knows how they're wired.

IF there are only two wires

AND the resistance is the same both ways round meaning no diodes in the line

THEN those two wires power the winder motor both ways by reversing polarity.

Go for it!
