Hello,
I'm new to all this, having just satisfied a long-time urge and purchased a 1991 110 and I've read enough threads to know that the best thing I could do is get it serveced before I start playing with it. Eventually, I'll want to stamp my mark on it, but first I'd like to know whether the machine is worth investment.
So can anyone recommend a good independent mechanic/garage in the Newmarket/Cambridge area (I don't think I'll be able to afford an LR dealer) who will service it and advise accordingly.

You'll have to watch them urges :eek: ;) :D

I'd suggest getting a reapair manual ( Down load free Rave ;) ) and servicing it yourself.

It'll give you plenty of smiles per gallon :D I wouldn't think of it as an investment though ;).

Keep well away from main stealers. ;)

I bit the bullet, and now on my 2nd Defender - a 300tdi CSW, 188+k miles, with FSH.
It’s a pearl. Just moved stereo to cubby box, fitted twin batteries, rewired Webasto, and fitted Dynamat + Wright’s front flooring.
Also heated front seats with new Exmoor upholstery front + back.
In process of relining back with 5mm rubber matting.
So, you were right ., the devil drives the need .

Welcome Pete! I'm near Newmarket.
Check out Mansfield 4x4 in Bury St Edmunds. Great chaps they are.
There is also Wicken 4x4 in Wicken, Ely and Overland Vehicle Services in Methwold.
