I replaced all my brake lines when I did my rebuild (covered on the forum), it went back on the road two years ago in August so they are not really that old, all the fittings I used were just normal fittings you buy online etc.

I went to remove the front brake flexis last night and had a hell of a job getting them off as the union had seized onto the brake pipe, I know this happens, I have had many a stuck brake pipe but given the pipe is copper nickel it's not really the pipe that is the issue, it's the corrosion on the union which essentially bonds it onto the pipe.

I was able to loosen the clamp nut on the flexi, and then turn the flexi pipe and counter hold the brake pipe union to remove it but after less than 24 months I really would expect the unions to be in better nick.

So in short, can you get good quality brake pipe fittings - I see people sell "brass" fittings, are they really brass or cadmium plated steel.
