As far as I am aware people do go on it, however it isn't open and they do so without the permission of MoD. The closure happened a couple of years ago when a Lexus came to grief and the driver sued the MoD for the damages to his vehicle - hence it's now shut to all but MoD vehicles.... Or at least that is my underatsnding.

phoned the duty officer this morning and asked if there was vehicle access on the ring road and his answer was " well ..... officially ... no". he then went on to say that the park authority and the duchy estate had put up granite posts at op22 and other points. his generall tone was that he wasn't to keen on the park authority and to just drive up there. i suppose if you're driving the road and your get asked what you're doing the answer 'well the guy on the phone implied it was ok' probably won't be the right answer !

Yup OP22 is as far as I got last time, the thing is.... It's all very well him implying that he doesn't like DNPA and people do as they like etc... However, just be aware that the moment you go past the sign, you are committing a road traffic offence - :)

Had a look on sunday, went as far as op22, would have liked to get to op15 as its the highest road in southern england, weather was rubbish anyway and it left me time for a 'short cut' accross salisbury plain on the way home
