Disco 2 Damp patch

Evening all
As the subject suggests, I've got a little damp patch... It wasn't there this morning when I loaded the boot, but when I unloaded it an hour later there was a damp patch on the ceiling and a puddle in the boot. On the way home, it dried up again - but it's occurred to me that I didn't use the rear wash on the way home and I did on the way out.

a) could this be a leaking rear wash pipe? Does it route through the headlining on the driver's side?
b) does anybody know if it's an easy fix?

I immediately assumed it was the sunroof, but the fact that it came and went on a dry journey made me think it must be the washers.

As ever, any guidance gratefully received! I've attached a pic of where the damp patch appeared.

The rear washer doesn't go through the headlining AFAIK as it enters the door down by the hinges. Have a look at the rear door seal which can leak at the top. Mine gets a little puddle on the boot cover in heavy rain.

Is your little puddle caused by the rear door seal?

I have similar and thought it was the sunroofs, but will also have a look at this.

The tube would enter near the hinges to give it some form of protection, it has nothing to do with the route it takes to get there.

Could be lots of things, alpine lights leaking, roof rails (if they're fitted), join in roof to body panels, where aerial passes through roof.

Argh, sounds like a fair few things to investigate then! Still can't help thinking it's related to washing the rear screen but I'll have another look tonight and get someone to squirt it whilst I sit in the back. Thanks for the suggestions though.

How hard is it to get behind the headlining in the boot? Or don't I want to know?

If you look for a step by step guide to repairing a sunroof that will give you the info you need to get the headlining out. If it was me, I'd pump out the screenwash through the front washers, fill up with water then pump out to the rear and check again. A bit more water shouldn't hurt. You may even be able to attach a new length of tube to your existing and pull it through.

Aye, that sounds like a plan Discokids, cheers - at least I should be able to cross one off the list. I don't think it's the door seal, as the damp patch in the ceiling is a couple of feet back from the door, but looks like there are a few other things to look at next Speckydude. Cheers all - I'll clean it out and pump a load through the back pipe to see what happens... So far it's been bone dry no matter how heavy the rain, so I'm hoping it's just the squirter!
