Daft question, but where's my reverse light cable gone?

Just had to drop our gearbox out due to issue with a bolt jamming in the clutch. Whilst doing the job, I noticed that the reverse switch did not have anything connected to it (it only had two male bullet connectors on a short flying lead) when dropping down the gearbox and transfer box.
I'm sure the reverse light was working a few months ago when we got it.
I have had a look around and a crawl about, but can't find anything ??
My question is, does the cable/wires that connect to the reverse switch on the gearbox come from the back or the front (so I can look in the right area some more!!).
We have a 1989 90, which has the engine and drivetrain from a Discovery 300tdi fitted (all by owner two oners ago).
Thanks for your help people, sooner fish about for the old cable rather than fishing in new.

Mine comes from drivers side inside the engine bay down bulkhead along chassis rail over transfer box . Mines a 1993 200tdi wires are green/brown and I think the other is green can look tomorrow for you if you need me to.

Ian,
Thanks.
I'll have another crawl around. Gave up today due to rain, and being knackered after getting box and stuff back in, and testing things.
Thanks again matey, appreciate the info.

No probs mate it should have a nas connector on the end that goes into the reverse switch on the gearbox and it plugs in to the main loom were I said above , but as yours as been modded with the engine who ever did it might not have kept it as standard, if you need any photos of what your looking for just let me know.
cheers Ian
