D4 turbo

My turbo started leaking and exhaust fumes come in through the aircon. My mechanic says the cross pipe gets hot and the pipe split. I’m suspicious, He replaced the aircon pump just a few weeks earlier and I think he damaged the pipe. Are they near each other? I live in Uganda the car has only done 125,000 km
