Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster. I am Extinct over at the landroverforums.com (largely US based forum). I have been a member here for a while so I could browse post but I finally have some information to share so thought I would introduce myself.

I am a D2 guy, have/had 17 so far, all V8's as that is all we really see in the US. Over the years I have developed a solution to the dreaded thermostat issue common on these that we call the inline thermostat mod. Recently got it to the point where I could make an "official" post over on our forums. I thought I might cross-post it here so users here could benefit from the information. Hit me with questions either here or there, your preference.

Anyway, here is the link: https://landroverforums.com/forum/d...-extinct-inline-thermostat-mod-thread-105010/

Yeah, you are referring to the sensor port up photos. There are two versions available, port down or port up. Port down fits a bit better to the shroud than port up. I quickly threw the port up version in there to show how it fits and did not do the normal install with silicone to seal the hose to the housing or position the clamp correctly as I was not going to leave it in there. Good to know you are taking care to cut your hose with precision, what's the acceptable tolerance on that anyway :p

Well you know how us Yanks are, we never did stand much on ceremony or making sure our lines are straight. We were always more the function over form types:p

I see your just like your repair..dribbling :p

What's a Yank-ee?
The same as a quickie, only you do it yourself. :D

@Extinct ... Thanks for the thermostat mod kit for my V8! I received it in great condition.
Waiting on my mate to return from holiday so I can use his heated garage to install the kit. lol
Cheers!

Hey mate!
I haven’t installed it yet. It’s still stored in the box it arrived in.
Using a buddies garage to install the kit didn’t pan out. I’m waiting for warmer weather to install it and document what I did.

Thanks again for a great product for our Discovery 2 community!
