D2 key issues

Hi all,
Im Tom, based in Lincoln, boyhood dream to own a landrover, and now I have a D2.
However this is a problem with the alarm, whereas i need to touch the lock barrel on the door with the key for the buttons to work, and even then it is intermittent. has anyone come across this before?

But in advance have you replaced the battery in the key?

Yes, I have read, i changed the battery straight off. I have looked at the receiver module, Part YWY 000080, seems ok, no corrosion on the earthing bolt, but will clean it off before re-fitting anyway. do you know if the alarm will go off if i unplug the unit?

When I diconnected mine , after unlocking the car it was fine. Whenever I mess with the alarm, I make sure windows , drivers door are open , just paranoid about somehow locking myself out...LOL.
I recomend getting yourself a spare key and the EKA code as well.

Did you use a good quality battery? pound shop ones are rubbish.

They were JCB ones.

Also, just had the module out, cleaned the contact and the bolt, with wire wool. And reinstalled it all.
And now its worse. so I have ordered a new reciever module, and if that doesnt work, replace the wires up to it.
Does anyone know where the other end of the wires go to?

If you have sunroofs and you found sign of damp, you can try leaving the module on a radiator to dry it out nd see if that helps.
