Replaced clutch today seems hard to get in 1st and reverse
I replaced dmf valeo
Friction disk and pressure plate borg and beck
Pilot bushing
Release bearing and slave
It is bled correctly with firm pedal
Reason for change was pilot bushing was gon and dmf was on last legs
Original Valeo clutch and pressure plate were not worn at all
Shifted fine beforehand
Clutch friction is facing correct way
I have done several of these befor without a problem
Almost thinking of putting original friction and pressure plate back on
I am stumped
Thanks
Brett

update
took apart for third time removed borg and beck friction and pressure plate
installed original valeo friction and pressure plate(were not worn at all anyway) and works perfect
mental note dont buy borg and beck stick with valeo

This is very interesting.
Did you take any measurements to compare the two to see if you could get to the bottom of it? Was it possibly that the elements of the clutch were just a fraction thicker?
I have a similar problem with the Wife's Porsche Speedster replica which is based on a Vw aircooled beetle autoshift. And I have had the clutch relined twice. but it still seems to be too thick and will not disengage properly. I think I am going to have to take it off and take a grinder to the friction surfaces to make then a bit thinner.
Butchery I know, but we are at the end of our tether with this.

Also is it going back to the shop/Borg and Beck?
Glad you solved it anyway.:):):):)

An after thought.
Would it maybe have been a better idea to have replaced the DMF with a Borg and Beck one? (The first time around)
Could it be that what you have now works cos it is ALL Valeo?
Just wondering if they are made to all work as a unit.

I did not take measurements as I was pressed for time after 3rd time
I did notice that on third attempt that the
Gearbox slid in easier with the valeo
I believe that the borg and beck parts were faulty as it was harder to push gear box up to engine
It’s amazing the amount of rabbit holes you will dive down when reading all the forums
On similar problems
But I had a hunch after first time it was parts
I’ve never had problems with valeo products in disco or freelander
As my residence is Canada it’s pointless to send back for refund and I have not heard back from vendor after I reported problems
Thanks
Brett
