just got my hands on yet another disco its a 1 3.5v8has a couple of faults one being the temp gauge doesnt seem to move and i thought it was broke until it was stuck out laning earlier and was inching it backwards and forwards with some revs and the temp guage creepes up to a quater but when out driving normally again it dropes of the edge of the guage again and the other fault being the the heater doesnt work at all ie you can twizzle all the nobs and nothing happens at allnot even when you hit it lol
cheers

Provided you have enough coolant in it sounds like you need a new thermostat mate!
As it's new to you, you may actually find it's been removed, if so the question is why??

yup sounds like its missing a thermostat. not an uncommon thing, quite a few people remove them for summer driving as it helps keep the engine cool. i dont have a stat in my boat for the same reason, helps keep the engine running either very cold when running for long periods or not running to warm when manouvering
