Thanks for the info - had always wondered that, turns out oil has a very brownish hue - checked it in daylight and in a clear container - quite obvious now

Is this problem likely to be fluid related only or is there potentially something hydraulically wrong inside the box affecting that shift only at that rpm? could it have been damaged under heavy/severe load in that second gear zone 1800rpm-2000rpm which would probably see most use at that particular rpm?

Also on that wire/connector, I don't have anything up near the bulkhead but have something similar down near the battery - looks the same to me?

Thats strange....not 100% that connector has anything to do with the fly by wire throttle, all I know is that I had the exact symptoms you describe and was recommended by someone to make sure that connector was clean, sure enough I do that and have never had the problem since...

Ill try and look into what that is exactly and why mines is connected to something and yours isnt

Looks like that connector is for the sensor on the EDC injector, is yours even EDC as that would explain why its not connected! lol

that one is for the alarm sounder, the one from the box is the same. both black on mine, and will be to the rear of the engine compartment on the same side as the filter as shown in steve's picks

Not sure that it is EDC actually as mine is a 94/95 facelift - think they were a 96-99 thing?

So does this mean even though I activate my alarm if someone were to break in it aint gonna say boo?

has it every gone Boo?

all i am saying is that in that position i only have 1 connector that looks like that and its connected to the alarm sounder.

Im fairly sure the connector in my picture runs ontop of the injector, ill have a look tomorrow and report back

i think your right though mate, being a 94-95 I dont think it will be EDC

So I took this to a trans specialist and they say its a clearance issue with the clutch pack?

either from wear or incorrect clearance on a rebuild?

its booked in to be drained/checked/filter/fluid and he say depending on what they may find/ascertain they may be able to mask the symptom/problem by increasing line/hydraulic pressure?

that way not up for rebuild... thoughts anyone?

anyways getting used to shifting it manually as it doesnt flare on a manual shift only when "D" is engaged...
