Hi guys,

I'm looking for a bit of advice if youd be so kind :)

I have a 94 D1 300 TDI, Currently on 33" Maxxis Buckshot Mudders. I want to change these to Maxxis Trepadors (35 12.5 16). I believe the car is on standard gearing (struggling as it is with the 33's) so I know I'll need to make some changes to the hearing to make this work!

What exactly do I need to do with the gearing? I've read in forums that if this isn't done correctly and fully I could end up with my high gears being the correct gearing but low gears set at the standard ratio!

all the t/boxes have the same low ratio its only high that varies, you could fit a 1.4 defender t/box but because tyres are so big low will still be higher than standard or you could fit 4.1 crown wheel and pinions which would lower both high and low

Hi James,

Thanks for your reply. I found this on Ashcrofts website. I'm assuming I would need two of these - one for front diff one for rear

https://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/ring-pinions/heavy-duty-4-37-r-p.html

Is there anything else I'd need gearing wise?
yes you need 2 and no nothing else your diffs at the moment are 3,54,your t/box 1.2 if you dropped that to1.4 with your tyres low would still be higher, but the 4.1 diff ratio lowers high and low to compensate for the tyres

Hi Guys,

Thanks for that!

Does anyone know what off set rims I should be running? Will I need spacers? Currently I've got a 3" suspension lift and the 33"s fit under nicely, a tiny bit of rubbing at full lock.

Is there any recommendations anyone could give me :)
Many thanks

Biggest I’ve seen on a Disco are 34. Think they had adjustable panhard rods or something, camber adjusted perhaps?. Could have been overkill as he does have gadgets for sake of it
Plenty in Disco section will know for sure, they can be a rowdy bunch but just join in and they’ll settle down and help

They did have spacers with sticky on arches To cover them for MOT I remember that. Look forward to seeing your adventure
