Hello, a few weeks ago i put the car in drive and nothing happened. Reverse worked fine. I removed the battery and the car went into drive and i used it for several weeks. Last i noticed in drive that the hill decent light came on while in drive and the car did not shift out of first gear. Last Friday the car refused to go forward in drive. I hear the engine rpm lowering when in drive but it does not move an inch. I read the transmission ECU with X431 and it said "no fault data". Talked to the dealer and their only option is to fit it with a new transmission. There are a few transmission repair places but they do not have experience with the Jatco gearbox. I would like to know of any one has had this problem before and knows what causes it. I can buy the parts in advance so the mechanic can fix it. I still hope it is an easy fix.

What if you put it in 1-2-3-4 or if you try the tip tronic control. Will it move then? Could just be the cable or position sensor. There are quite a few threads about this gear box, search 'jacto' or 'auto' it will bring them up. Every now and then mine decides not to engage 'D' but putting it into 'N' counting to 5 then back into 'D' usually sorts it. As for the hill descent light, that's a whole different kettle of fish, could be related, usually not. The more info you provide the better the peeps on here can help. Mike

because its not finding fault cant help thinking it's a physical selector issue, does it read "D" on the dashboard when in drive?
