I am getting a noise coming from the front when going around left hand bends. It sounds to me like a cv joint knocking. has anyone had the same problem? How hard of a job is it to do, where is the best place to get the part from?

Then it probably is the n/s/f CV joint.

Yes. It was a n/s/f CV joint.

How hard of a job is it to do,

Easy to follow steps in the Haynes manual. Not as easy as changing the CV joint on a Ford Fiesta, but easier than brain surgery.

You can get a quote for a genuine Land Rover part from a local dealer/supplier. Some clubs get a discount, for example the Freelander Club or Camel Trophy Owners Club. Or check out the internet. Use Google or Welcome to Everyclick.com - The Search Engine That Helps Charity and search for "Freelander CV joint". You will also need a gaiter/boot and grease.

Cheers

Thanks Blippie. I notice Paddocks do a kit for £30 which sounds reasonable. I pressume that includes the actual joint!
