Hi

Just hoping someone can help as I've searched for an answer to no avail.

The other day whilst off road and steering slightly to the left there was a nasty sound from the front end and I lost all drive.

I've traced the fault to the n/s front, having stripped the hub, I am unable to remove the cv joint.

Shouldn't it just pull out?

I've been checking everything, I can turn the cv joint and nothing happens but if I pull and turn the cvj the front propshaft turns.

Does this mean it's the cvj and not the half shaft that is broken?

Thanks in advance

hello and :welcome2:

When i did mine i think it just pulled out but have you made sure all the necessary bits are removed and you havn't accidentally left something in place? Do you have a pry bar of some sort? This link could be of help too http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f41/cv-joint-renewal-68945.html If all else fails, i'm sure someone on here will have a solution.

Hope it goes well, Harry

sounds like the cage of the cv joint has broken up, mine did the same a while back - no drive but pulling on the cv gave some drive to turn prop, only way to remove is to make sure the steering is in the straight ahead position then cv will or should pull out

Thanks for the help guys, I followed Busters step by step guide and the wheels were straight but it wouldn't pull out. I'll try again with a pry bar, fingers crossed.

I don't need to remove the swivel housing do I?

Cool, thanks for the help. Took a while but with some persuasion in the form of a pry bar it finally came out.

Unfortunately it turned out to be the half shaft that sheared at the diff

All taken apart now, awaiting collection of parts tomorrow so I'll be up and running again.:D
