Hi again. My brakes have failed on my 2006 110. The pedal goes down to the floor. I can stop, but only just! A new master cylinder has been fitted and all air bled from the system. Still I have the same problem. The fluid level is constant. I'm completely stuck and don't know what else to do. Any ideas please?

Thanks, James

Thank you both. I've had the new master cylinder professionally fitted and all air has been cleared from the ABS system - I've no reason to doubt the skills of the mechanic there, since he's very used to working on landrovers. Having said that, he's as stumped as I am! If air was entering the system, wouldn't brake fluid be leaking somewhere too, or is my logic wrong? There is no sign of obvious leaks and the fluid level is constant? Any thoughts?

Thanks fanatic, that's an interesting question to which I do not know the answer! I'll have a look tomorrow and see what I can find! If it does have one, what would the signs be of it not working?

FYI my brake pedal goes pretty much to the floor with reduced bite. If I pump the brakes two or three times, they work. The ABS seems to still be working.

Excuse my lack of technical know-how ...

James

check your wheel bearings, if there is play it will move the pads away from the disk meaning you have to pump them up each time
