Cup Holder installation

Hi there,

I have a 1995 P38, and have been offered the lid from the central caddy of a Range Rover that is being demolished, and that has the cup-holders in it. My model does not come with this as standard. My question is this: is this a reasonably easy job to swap out my standard lid for the one with the cup holders in it?. The seller has mentioned that it uses my 'existing gas struts',...which my model obviously doesn't have.

Any help with this would be much appreciated!

if cars being broken up then get the gas struts with the lid, then shouldnt be a difficult job.

Except they'll probably be knackered...

Why are replacements so ridiculously expensive? I've never been quite sure what it does since mine has never worked.

Thanks for that. I have asked for the gas struts as well. Getting it for a song, the NZ equivalent of about 15 GBP for the lid plus struts.

Mine is fitted with cup holders and the busted gas strut (now removed) but I have never been able to work out how it is supposed to flip upside down in order to use the cup holders. It will allow you position it in many various ways but upside down and flat is not one of them. If the gas strut was fitted then this would appear to be even more impossible at the strut would restrict the mobility even further. I figure I must be doing something wrong but can't spot what it is.

Well in my car you open the lid and twist the upper side to the front and there you go. the cup holders should be facing backwards and when you close the lid they would be on top.

Yes, that would NORMALLY be the case Sir, however if one should wish to get ones hands dirty I have been known to "Borrow" my Butlers white gloves!!

I was only thinkin that t'other day ...In fact I have just been sent a new ringtone for my phone... It goes................

My Son had it on his phone until I rang him the other week ( At the time he was working in Blackburn Cathedral & standing next to the Bishop!!!!)

Paul was highly embarrassed ... (The Bishop just ****ed himself laughin & said .."Thats Brill..can ya Bluetooth it to me phone"?????

I think people just forget sometimes that the Clergy are human as well!!!!!

yep- make sure either drink is not too hot or jeans are thick and avoid completely if wearing a skirt
