4bt s are good, though vibrate a bit and are thin on the ground compared to the 6

I'd love to have a proper look at that conversion! I would have thought you'd need to replace most of the rest of the drive train too not to mention uprating the suspension and brakes.
It was the additional weight but more the position of the engine and where it's weight sat that I was thinking might upset the handling; how did they drive?

handled the same,its a heavy engine but the landrover is designed to carry load. Look at the great big old mechanical winches ,which sitting ahead of the axle actually raise the front axle weight by twice the actual mass ie a 100lb winch will exert 200lb on the axle due to moments about the axle
