Cruise control

Any Ideas regarding cruise control on my p38, it works for a short time then drops out, I have replaced it with another motor which has made some difference. Can the relay play up, what other bits can cause mayhem, my right foot is aching!!!

check the connections to the motor and also replace the pipes, sounds like its loosing vacum!

faulty cruise ecu has same symptoms

I had same problem. eventually traced it to the brakelight switch mounted below the steering column, operating from the pedal. It was a plastic thing (can't remember what it looked like but it was a bit awkward to squeeze your hand up to it) It was a bit loose and I had to click it back into place. Found out this was problem with cruise because one day brakelights were on when I was stationary out of the car, and the cruise had kept dropping out on that journey. Clicked the switch back into place and hey presto brakelights went out and no problems with cruise again!

Hope it's as simple as this!

Replaced the vacuum hoses, will check the switch. What can be done with the cruise ecu, and where is it?
