Hi,

I think the vacuum pipe for the cruise control has a split, but I need to find it before I make the repairs.

Does anyone know where the pipe would be located on a 1996 Disco SE?

Thanks in advance.

Daniel.

Mate where do we start. I have just purchased the workshop manual for models 1989 thru to 1998 cos I'm having problems with my cruise control. There are several vacuum pipes.

1st pipe off the top end of brake pedal

2nd pipe off clutch

3rd pipe off back of actuator (adjacent to windscreen washer tank)

4th/5th/6th pipes all meet at T joint behind the washer tank

7th pipe attached to vacuum pump located beneath the 2 large access holes between the radiator and the jack.

Like you I've had several pipes with splits, cut small portions off and rejoined and have now got partial cruise control. My problem is that after a few km's it drops out of cruise.

Good luck

Brett

Hi Brett, did you ever fix the problem with your cruise dropping out?? Mine does the same!!jaz

No Jaz, not fixed yet. Although I have noticed that it tends to work better on cold days, so maybe more cracked pipes or the vacuum diaphragm is stuffed. Will take to garage soon as still under warranty.

They use silly-arse rubbery tubes that split for sure.

Try decent windscreen washer tubing.

If you run it too much on cruise with split tubes the little vacuum pump may come to harm through over-working.
