I've come to the conclusion that my CC set switch is goosed, takes a good few hard presses before kicking in...

My disco is non-srs model so has the buttons in the steering wheel front, looking on RAVE only shows the SRS version. Anyone know how the switches can be removed?

Alternatively, can the SRS version side mounted switches be interchanged?

are u sure its not the vacume pipes perished?

i had the simler fault with my 300tdi and got a new set switch and it wernt that.

it was the pipe perished at the vacume unit.

Pretty certain - once it's working it works fine, pressing Set/Acc button when running on cruise has same foibles; some presses do increase speed!

Moving the steering wheel doesn't alter switch performance so I'm also fairly confident that it's not the rotary coupler

Must be one of the few discos without perished pipes...

If I can't get it out i may just spray contact cleaner down the sides, though i doubt that'll reach the right bits

i would also check vacume hoses first.play around with the button on the steering wheel and listen for a click from the relay under the glove box

i agree i payed £10 for loads of aquarium pipe i think i can do my truck 5x over if only i had payed for this and spent about an hour fitting it in the first place as it would have saved me £35 for the switch i didnt needand ages removeing the old one and fitting the new.

i had inttermitant cruse control (it worked when it felt like it) and i traced it back to the the conection to the vacume unit just under the left hand battery tray.

it was a small split on the edge of the point it streched over the conection, on replaceing the hose i found all the ends of the pipes to have started to perish, i may have been able to chop the ends off and reconect them all.

but i replaced it all as i brought the hose and just to be on the safe side.

if the new pipe is hard to fit to the conections get a mug of boiling water and heat the ends up before you force them on.

HINT: on the vac unit remember whitch fitting your pipe came off as you cant see the conections you can only feel them unles you feel like removeing it.

its up to you what you want to do.

all the best with your choice

if you want to remove the switch in the haynes book of lise it says place a fine tiped screwdriver under the edge and gently prize up.

Easy as that...!

I'll have a try at that, it seems to either have something wedged in behind it or broken. I've now worked out that by pressing at the top then rolling down to the bottom, it clicks again and CC sets every time without fail.

I'm also going to remake the ends of the hoses as suggested, judging by your responses - if they're not a problem now, they soon will be!!!
