Hi
Just bought a '03 TD Freelander this morning and it has cruise control but it is totaly different to the one in the manual, the one in the manual shows a master switch on the dash and controls on the steeriong wheel.
Mine is a single stalk on the left of the steering column, it has a small switch on the end with 'I' & 'II' - what do these do?
When I push the lever back a small green light comes on (the light is on the face of the column) and a faint beep, but it doesn't seem to be engaged coz when I take my foot off it slows down.
Can anyone explain how this works?
Ta
Rob

Thanks for that, I have looked on the site you suggested and the closest to mine in appearance is the CM30 but says it is for 1.4 petrol or less.... and I have google'd various terms but struggling to find any other kits.

Hi Mr K,
Check out this one - if you have a TD4 then its oprobably a CAN bus type simmilar to this one.
Most are of the same far east origin (TDK) and are badged in Europe with various names and interchangable stalk designs. ;)
That's assuming that yours is a manual transmission - if not then it gets a lot more complicated!!
I went aftermarket with a Waeco system on our TD4 manual, started out with their MBE3 dash mounted pad buttons until I was happy it was all working ok. Then I installed all of the original LR switches and wired it all up using an interface box so that it all works and looks standard. :)
I have the full user guide for the MS800, covers various stalk controls - may help? - PM me if you would like a copy it's a couple of meg if I remember correctly.

Hi
Ta for the info, I should have mentioned it is a manual '03 TD4.
Still trying to find who makes this CC as need to know what all the buttons do...

Hi Mr K,
Start out under the dash by the brake and clutch pedals, all these type of systems on the manuals use the pedals as overrides to drop out the CC.
You should have a switch or magnet operated switch on the clutch pedal somewhere (not an original) and probably an extra switch or extra wires on the original switch on the brake pedal. :)
Trace these back and you should find the CC interface box and the CC ECU units - you will then know what model and make you have. (my guess - it's probably up behind the centre console cover under the radio) :)
Once you know the supplier you can find the model of the stalk and get the operating instructions?
The piccys below are the clutch/brake pedal set-up on mine with the extra magnetic switch - this is the sort of thing you are looking for. The diagram shows how mine connects up. ;)

One thing about these units is they operate by remapping the output of the throttle pedal to the engine using the road speed signal. They use a harness that connects the pedal to the CC ECU and then back to the original pedal wiring.

A good (excellent) point with this arrangement is that for faulting, should you ever need to - hang on this is a Freelander , you can disconnect the CC harness from the throttle pedal and reconnect the original pedal wiring as if CC was never there.

You could try posting a piccy of the stalk you have and someone may have used/fitted one in another motor, that may get you some more info on what the lights and buttons do?
