My 2003 td4 had the cyclone mod but having read various threads am thinking of reverting to original however am I right in thinking it is held in with a clip of some sort?
Obviously I won't have it , is it available as a spare part?

is it causing problems ??
i've had my bmw-cyclone job fitted for the past 150k miles
oil changed every 6k miles ..
hasn't caused me any issues ..
[ no 2k rpm missfire .. or 'owt else ]

last mot emission test .. less than half the legal limit

Seems to be oily misting around connections on engine cover ,not noticed before read somewhere that the cyclone could cause this

Seems to be oily misting around connections on engine cover
where on the engine cover ?
i.e. keep in mind that .. on the injectors cover ..
the bolt at far left [as one stands in front of car] ..
can leak oil if not tightened ..
[ that oil comes from the camshaft area ]
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````
the other thing to keep in mind is the valve inside the crank-breather device
if that sticks .. the breather won't work properly ..
that leads to increased crankcase pressure ..
i.e. more pressure on various oil seals ..
and .. the possibility of reduced lubrication for the turbo ..
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
if the breather device becomes restricted ..
i think it can be checked by removing the oil dipstik with engine idling
if oil pumps out the dipstik pipe .. the crank breather be restricted ..

here's another pic ..

btw .. gjhill ..
if you've not already done it .. i'd suggest doing the egr-delete modification
'cause .. oil in the intake tract .. [ from breather and turbo ]
will end up in the intake manifold ..
and said oil ends up as a gunky clogging mess after being mixed with hot exhaust gas from the egr device
`````````````````````````````````
and .. engine runs .. and drives .. far better with the egr being deleted ..
and the intake manifold remains free of built up gunk
