Battle of the power problems continue.

Had fun today as I had sent my ECU off for chipping, when the company opened it, there was a power chip in there already. They offered to leave it in and return my money, but did also say they soldering was awful. So I asked them to switch the chips and solder it properly, let's hope.

Anyway, my only engine fault on Hawkeye is the Crank Speed Sensor. If I unplug it, car revs like mad, engine management light comes on. Accelerator does nothing. So I am guessing the wiring is OK, someone has reattached the plug at some point.

If the sensor is faulty, would this cause the power issues and high MPG use?

Thanks as always.

CPS either work or don't. Think i would put better diag than Hawkeye on it first. Do you know anyone with a Nanocom? Diag maybe picking up high resistance from duff connection. Or it may need setting. Special tool time for that though.

Thanks hun. I Don't :(

Someone did cut the wires and resolded them back!! The two wires from the loom are joined to the two wires on the plug. I note that there is a silver bit of wire coming out of the loom before the join. Goes nowhere. I did test the continuity of the wires before the join and the plug, seemed OK. As I say, when I unplug it, car goes nuts... So suspect it is probably OK.

That will possibly be the shield cable someone has been doing a bit of bodging.

Thanks Wammers, that makes sense! I have to exposed wires going to the sensor from the join. GRRRRRRR! No wonder a fault is being thrown up!
