Hi,

I've got a P38 2.5TD

Last night my raditor cracked on the top bit.

Is this common as i wasnt pushiung the engine i was just driving round town.

Didnt notice my temp gauge move.

Im just wondering if the is a reason why this may of gone?

Thanks

Hate to say this but I had exactly the same thing with my DSE a while ago. In my case it turned out to be a cracked cylinder head which caused the pressure build up to split the rad. It didn't show any signs of overheating but the rad just split. After that I then had problems overheating when the engine got warm. A new cylinder head was the other thing I had to have replaced! :(

I had that thought in the back of my head for some reason.

How much was the head any idea?

Looks like i might be busy over the christmas break.

Thanks

Hi
Had the same problem last year in the south of France. Limped home using super glue every hour. Fitted a new rad from Island 4x4 no problems since although it had just been serviced and the garage had not tightened the radiator cap and it over heated before this so that might have been the start but ok now apart from the alternator is now playing up

a friend of mine had a cracked rad about 6 months ago, in the same place as you, in the top of the rad, the engines now in bits as his now got to replace the cracked head, £300 for the head.

Ok thanks, i've replaced mine now and seem ok for the moment so i'll keep an eye on the water level and temp gauge, I also did 150mile trip today and all seemed ok.
