Could the automatic folding side mirrors (when locking the car) be an issue during the winter?

Where I live we have an average of -6.5C (20F) degrees during the coldest period of the year with lowest down to -18C (3F) degrees.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at the local dealer and was wondering if I should ask them to disable this feature as well.

Mine is a 2013 Freelander 2 / LR2, but this feature is widely available across the lineup.

I think ice will be more of a problem than just the cold ...

Disconnect power to the fold motor. Trapped ice will stop folding and unfolding if theres enough of it. Cold location dealers should be able to advise what they do to other local vehicles.

A bit of an aside but is silicone better than PTFE in this situation? I've never been clear when you would use one in preference to the other.
