Could it be the turbo?

I have been problem solving for the past 6 months and once I fix one problem I discover another two.

Anyway...what could be the cause of this:

Engine momentarily loses power and regains it again in a split second. Causing juddering. Also, there is a constant background vibration when engine is under load. The whole car vibrates. It does not vibrate when I am not accelerating. The engine sounds good when idling.

The shaking is definitely not axle related... I have rebuilt the rear axle with a new diff, stub axles, bearings, the lot, The front has had a new swivel bearing kit and the front right side has not been taken apart but is ok. I´ve also replaced all joints and rods and steering arm at the front. I´ve also replaced both props.

I´ve replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned MAF (replaced not long ago), replaced injector loom.

I think the turbo is at fault...what do you think?

Symptoms sound like you have a boost pressure leak. Could be a turbo hose leaking either because of delamination or leaking at a joint. Could also be the intercooler leaking, inlet manifold just another thought EGR valve faulty then the wastegate stuck or just very stiff and not closing properly.

I would say fuel all the way, even down to the wiring for the stop solenoid making and breaking hence the juddering.

I had similar symptoms many years ago, not on a Landy, and it turned out to be the clutch causing vibration under load only. Swapped it out and all was well. Dunno about the loosing power, other than what's been said, unless the clutch is also slipping ...

Well the new turbo is in and there is no more loss of power. They changed the exhaust manifold gasket as well as they discovered it was letting gas out.

However, the vibration is still there under load and I really can't be bothered to keep trying to find the fault. It seems to be inconsistent...sometimes better, sometimes worse. I'll probably just keep driving it as it is and wait for something to fail. It's probably somewhere in the drivetrain...perhaps the clutch as Paul has suggested. Is there a chance it could be the gearbox or transfer box?

Check your hand brakes not over tightened. that can cause axle tramping, which feels like a bad vibration.
