Hello everyone, I got another question about the front lights wiring. I want to replace the wiring but what I have is some of the wires are braided and some are plastic coated. Is this how the Land Rover wiring was when made. The braided wiring definitely looks original. Please don’t tell me that I can buy the wiring looms, I did look into what they cost. I can’t afford to buy. So I want to buy 1 or 2 different colour wires as and when I can. Cheers Trumar

The people who sell vehicle wiring also sell a platic insulating tape that is mounded to look like the original fabric tape they used to wrap the loom. It works well and looks good. Once its wrapped it looks pretty much like it should.

Or try self amalgating tape. It sticks to itself unlike electrical tape which is a bitch to get off. Plenty for sale on f-bay.

Hello colthebrummie apologies for my mixed up question. What info I’m asking for is my wiring for all the front lights is Braided and plastic coated wire. Is this how the wiring should be? Cheers Trumar
.

The original wiring (based on tinkering with a stage 1) is a mix of non-adhesive tape which sticks to itself and braided sleeve. Wiring to the front end will usually be taped. Not too difficult to get the correct coloured wire/terminals and replace it in sections. Particularly if you have the old one as a template.
