Cooper Discoverer STT

I have a set of Cooper Discoverer STT's, as new on my defender 90.

I'm only doing road driving at the minute until I've done repairs and it seems a shame to use them. I'd also like some AT tyres more suited to road use, so would sell these to finance those.

Any interest? Not sure what they'd go for but they are very new & are also in an uncommon size:
265/75/R16

Im not sure of the make/model of wheels but may be willing to swap them for something a bit more original.

Is that really an uncommon size? Thought that was pretty standard for 4x4s

I think it's uncommon for this tyre, I had trouble finding them new online in that size

STT's are an AT in my mind, certainly not what I'd call an MT tread.

I would think it's probably the most common size they are sold in the for the UK market, as it's a standard size for Defenders.

Because they are discontinued.

@300bhp/ton according to Cooper they are 70% off road 30% on road or 80/20 not sure which. Id say they are muds

lol, guess it depends what end of the spectrum you are looking at it from.

I know Cooper might market it as a pretty extreme off road tyre, but just look at the lug size and lug separation. It really isn't, smallish lugs, small separation and it even has sipes. And they actually drive pretty good in the snow and ice because of it. And handle wet tarmac no probs. They are also pretty quiet and comfy, certainly for a Defender, as there will be plenty of other things that make more noise than the tyres.

My brother has just fitted a set of them to his 90 (in 235/85R16's). It looks a bit weedy on them and I wouldn't want to get into any serious wet mud with them. But he says it does drive nice on the road and is quieter with them. I've driven on them before too.



But as I say, I guess it's about perspective. We normally run tyres like these. Which are what I'd consider a Mud Terrain to look like.

I ran the STTs in that size on my 90 for 5 years, excellent all round tyre imo. Dealt with everything - including thick mud - very well. Only thing that stopped them was thick clay!

Even with the small lugs they did throw muck out very well keeping the tread "clean", i would reccomend them to anyone. The newer Pros however are muds for sure!

sorry we kinda hijackes your thread! As for a price point id say £500 - £600 but as mentioned A/Ts wont be that different from what you have now....

Haha, not at all! I'm a new landy owner so the more info I can soak up the better.

I'll keep an eye out for some boost alloys with tyres on, purchase those and then do a straight swap onto my defender. That way I can sell my wheels & tyres without faffing about swapping tyres over.
