Cooling Fan Relay went dead?

Hi there guys, I'm new around and I was hoping that maybe you can give me a hint.

I own a Freelander 1.8 K series, 1999. Yesterday I noticed that only one cooling fan was spinning. I turned on the aircon and waited to see what happens... so every now and then only the right-hand side fan started to run, which at first I assumed was normal. Later on, after reading the Rave manual, I understood that this is not the correct operation mode, since the fans both run at two "speeds", when they are relayed in Series or in Parallel (Slow mode and High Mode).

I suspected at first that the left motor was dead, I supplied a direct 12 V wire and ran like a charm. Afterwards, I assumed that the connections to the relay beneath the engine compartment fuse box might be corroded or rusty. I took out the fusebox and checked the relay - everything seemed to be in order, sprayed a little WD40 (just in case). Still no luck - the second motor wouldn't budge.

In a desperate attempt to set the second fan to run, I supplied it with a direct parallel 12V power source from the first (right-hand side) motor.
At first I was a little bit concerned that the fuses might blow but it was not the case, everything went perfect. The A/C finally delivered proper cold air, and the engine ran nice and cool. The whole wonder lasted about 30 minutes.

Now the first fan won't run, the second is also dead like before, and I am desperate since outside are 40 degrees C, and I planned a weekend trip with my familiy.

What do you think went dead? The relay? I checked all the fuses - all are in proper condition, not blown, brand new...

Any suggestion guys? Thanks!
Hani

LATER EDIT: There are two relays that are pretty much identical under the engine compartment fusebox. Now, following the harness colors from the fan motors I pulled out one of them. It looks exactly like the picture I''m attaching. I''ll try to open it, see if it melted or something. :)

OK, I'm back. I opened the relay casing and everything seems to be in order. No melting, no other signs of damage. I reconnected the relay "naked" (whithout its casing). There are actually 4 relays. One is the clutch of the A/C and two of them are the cooling fans. The ECU opens the circuit correctly for the both fans, and for the AC clutch but the fans won't spin!! This is rather frustrating, since I've spend a whole day fixing... well, nothing.

I've attached the wiring diagram and I was hoping that maybe some of you that have some electrical skills may guide me and explain me "dumb-proof" where should I start troubleshooting this nightmare...

got any pict of pcb showing soldered connection and relays from top ,you say you have both signals from ecu on pins C159-5 & 6 pins have you got it on pins C172-2 & 3 on relay module. would also check diode for open circuit and board for any dry or broken joints on the pcb,all contact make and break on the two relay and are clean
